I have an 08 ZO6. We just installed a cam this week. The question I have is with the traction control. In order to install cam we had to drop out the steering rack to gain access to timing cover etc. No problem with install but now car keeps showing "service traction control" every time car is started. I hit reset on dash which makes reminder go away but it comes back when car is restarted. The car has been tuned by HP tuner but can not get this to turn off. The traction control has been disabled through HP tuner before and after cam install. Never got this before cam install. How can I get this from coming up on read out? Thanks for any help
Drive the car some. During a few cam swaps I have noticed the TC or Active Handling messages and they go away after I drive them a bit. I have not been able to determine if its from having the car up on stands, or the wheels off, or the rack or what. Its just random and goes away after some driving. Hope that is your case and its easy.
If not, you may have pinched the wire harness near the rack or forgot to plug in that one connecter that is kinda under the steering box. Those will cause all kinds of messages if not pluged back in.
Thanks man. I guess I will have to go over all my electrical plugs. That is the only thing that makes since. I had the car tuned before the cam swap with the traction control turned off and never got this light or read out.
There is a really common issue with this in the past year models. There is, in fact, a thread on here somewhere with a self how-to on how to resolve it.
There is an issue with a wiring harness in the steering column having some connection issues. The fix is to dig into it, and use some zip ties to secure the harness. Sounds like the same issue, but you never know, I guess.
I took my 06 in for the same thing and had it corrected once. Fixed it for a long time, then it showed up again out of the blue after letting my dad drive it. I ended up adjusting the telescopic position, and it never came back again. I assume the position that dad put it in was problematic to that harness in some way.
Good point above. Also when you disconnect the steering shaft if the wheel turns too much you could damage the wiring but that's usually the air bag wire. Could be non-related to the install and the harness in the column like mentioned.
Yeah, we knew about that. Steering wheel was not touched after being put up on lift. Going to check my electrical conections this weekend, when I have some time. Thanks.
Well I checked all my electrical connections and everything is plugged up and nothing is damaged. Guess I will have to put GM tech tool scanner to see what is goin on. Anybody else had this problem??
DTC C0561 indicates that the traction control is disabled due to another problem that affects the traction control system. It will clear by itself if the cause is not detected in 100 drive cycles. My bet is that whatever it was has resolved itself if there are no other DTCs.
Note--I have no experience with this one myself, I just have a shop manual handy.
Thanks. I read that on the GM diagnostic instructions for the code of DTC CO561. Wonder if that means 100 drive cycles of car or drive cycles of computer itself, which I would imagine would be pretty quick?? Still hasve code and read out after driving a few times.

Ok,. Wonder if that goes by start ups or drive time?? Hope this is all it is but dont know why no one else has not had to deal with this. I know my car is not the only Z with a cam. ??
We just fixed one that the wire harness for the ABS was pinched when the shop that did the cam reinstalled the rack & broke several wires grounding them out. Took a while to find but that cured it.

Did you scan that with a tech 2? I think it would detect that? or would it? Just wondering cause we scanned mine and got no codes for anything like that. Let me know.
Thanks

Yes, it kept coming up as the left frnt wheel speed sensor, but we had to ohm out every step of the harness to find the breaks & shorts. All is good now....wanted all that fixed before tearing the engine down for the next round of mods.

Oh, that makes sense. I am sure the wheel speed sensors are tied into the ABS. I don't really have any associated codes that could cause the CO561.
Thanks anyways.
