Default HP and exhaust systems

I have an '08 A6 coupe with the stock NPP exhaust that increased the HP by 6 to 436. Do any of the other exhaust systems (Corsa, etc) add any more HP than that? Thanks.

Speaking for myself, I did not consider HP gain, if any, when I installed an aftermarket exhaust. I did for the SOUND. Any HP gain would be a bonus.

Default Not really

Most claim gains, but there nominal. I have Flowmasters, 'til this weekend, going w/ NPP, anyway there is lots of discussion they actually hurt power, but I have only dynoed the car w/ them on w/ minor mods & then w/ cam, FAST, etc. Just curious, why are you asking, you probably have the best setup outhere. Even the guys w/ cutouts on stock motors don't pick up much.

Just curious, since I see all over the forum guys adding Corsa's and other brands as well as seeing various advertisements. If I remember right the diameter of the NPP is 2.5", the Z06 exhaust is 3" and Corsa is selling 3.5 to 4". Not being a mechanic I was curious if the larger diameter allowed more HP.

very unlikely. the only time a bigger exhaust diameter starts helping is when you have less restrictive headers ahead of them as well as (sometimes) either less restrictive cats, or no cats.

then, you need to add some power to the engine in order to take even more advantage of this now freer breathing exhaust. and that can take the form of supercharging or turbocharging as well as other methods.

by itself, a catback system won't add very much, claims notwithstanding.

Your misinterpreting the diameters, inlet vs outlet. But to answer your question simply is no.

1. NPPs are 2.5 inlet w/ 2 3.5 outlets
2. Z06 are 3" inlet w/ 2 3.5 outlets & actually go down to 2.5 the last 1" before the muffler.
3. Corsa for C6 will be 2.5 inlet w/ choice of 3.5 or 4 outlets
4. Corsa for a Z06 will be 3" inlet & same as above.

The inlet size is what matters and all C6 will be 2.5 & all Z06 will be 3, the outlets are purely for looks. That said, there lots more involved in choosing the header primary size, x-pipe, & midpipes. There also is a fair amount of debate. For that info go to tech section & look for "Those who have Kooks longtubes, questions...". I gave my thoughts & others had their comments as well. You'ld do well to take a look at the info simply to educate yourself.

You switch mufflers on these cars for the sound, not for the power.
