Many are going with the Firestones since they are much cheaper than the GY. Which of the two is best is debatable. I think you'll be fine with either one. I'm looking at non runflats since there are a lot more to choose from.
Before you replace your tires with another set of runflats, see if you can ride in or drive a Vette without them. One of the best mods you can do IMHO is getting rid of the runflats when the opportunity presents itself. Non-runflats offer less weight, better handling, and lower costs

Run flats could save your life and others if you have a blow out at speed. More likely to maintain control.
Not to mention all the other great reasons.
I will never go back to non-runflats.
Yeah the cost sucks for now, but I also knew that going in.
I just bought another set of supercars. The supercars do not last long, but man do they stick!....
Never go without Run-flats. Never fails on a roadtrip that someone ends up spending 3 hours in the desert waiting for roadside service because they just couldn't stand the ride of the run-flats! I prefer the ride of run-flats over a 3 hour wait in the desert.
The new ZR1 is wearing Michelins. Available for other C-6's?
My last 2 C-5's both had them, and they were far superior to the Goodyear's in ride comfort and noise.
Runflat vs nonrunflat is an endless debate. The convenience and safety of runflats cause me to stay with them.
One of our club members put non-runflats on his C5 a couple of years ago, traded it for a new C6 with runflats last year. Last weekend we were 20 miles from nowhere when he had a rapid deflation, not a blowout but close to it. He just slowed down to 55 and continued to our destination, found the local runflat shop and drove it there. They discovered that the puncture/rip was too big, tire could not have been reinflated or plugged to get going again. He says he'd still be waiting for a flatbed to haul his car into town if using non-runflats. Plus the possible loss-of-control issues from the rapid deflation.
I have firestone firehawks RFT, if they dissapear I'll go with Kuhmo SPT non RFT. I make no difference to me. There all good. It's been over 25 years since I've had a flat that wasn't a slow leak. These tires today don't just blow out, and come apart.

Does Firestone Wide Oval make a runflat tire for our cars? I heard the non runflat wide oval was a good tire.
Oops, post #2 answered my question... But are they better than the supercar runflats? If so, I would consider a set as many of you guys made some strong points about having runflats. Sorry, I don't mean to hi-jack the O.P's thread~ This is the first post of the day here so what the heck. Thanks in advance if anybody reads this. ~Chris

I took the GY's off my Z51 after 2000 miles to save them. Put the Firestones on and drive 3000 miles a month. I am at 30000 on the firestones and they look like I will get another 15k. Well worth the money!
