Hi, my front tires are on their last leg, but my rears suprisingly still have some life left in them. A friend of mine offered to give me some pilot sports for the front. My question is would it be ok to run the pilots sports up front just until until the goodyears in the back are ready to be changed and then I will change all 4 tires. I don't take my car the roadcourse or anything.

You need to be aware that you may wind up with a traction imbalance resulting in the rear wanting to come around on heavy braking. Also, the tendency to oversteer may increase. Personally, I'd risk it but you do need to be careful.
I wouldn't chance it. The handling characteristics of both types of tires are different and the car may be unstable in certain situations as a result. You might be OK, but is it worth the chance to save a few bucks?
Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to go ahead and order up a set of Nitto Invos and just enjoy watching the remainder of my Goodyears turn into a cloud of smoke.

You will love the traction over the Goodyear however mine is louder than my Goodyear tires while other guys are quiter. Let us know how you like your Invos.

Take the loaners just to get by. I've had Firestones on order for over 3 months. The dealer called yesterday to say there is a small allocation ready and mine will be here next week.
Firestone runflats are less expensive, quiter, stickier, better in the rain and get great milage. Worth the wait if you can.
You should check the Toyo's....I used to sell them at a company in CA. They make Nitto and personally I like them very much. I use them on all my cars...
I mismatched Firestone RF's on the front with GY's on the rear with no problems but they were 4 new tires. I had the same issue with the fronts wearing out before the rear. I kept the old rears for emergency replacement.
I don't think you'll have a problem with the tires from 2 different companies. The traction control and active handling could be confused with new fronts/old rears. I actually put new rears on by themselves for about 2 weeks before I got the fronts and I never noticed any issues. I'm pretty sure you'll be OK.

I purchased pilot sport a/s zero pressure tires for my C5 after the EMTs were worn out. I did not have my 06 C6 long enough before purchasing the 08 vert. The PS tires were the best I ever had for ride, traction & long life.

Yeah I have heard some great things about the Pilot Sports as well. I may end up getting a set of PS2s instead of the INVOs. I'm going to do a little more research on both before I place an order.
I called Tirerack for tires and I inquired about the Pilots and told him I still had the runflats on the front. He said NO WAY they can not be mixed!!
I didnt want to buy 4 tires so I got the Z06 run flat tires 325s
13 inches wide Supercar tires

Yeah I already decided to buy a full set of tires not just two for the fronts. I figured its not worth the loss in stability, especially since this time of year we will start to see a decent amount of rain here in Albuquerque.

I wonder why he said there is NO WAY they can be mixed.
I dont see much of an issue here for any sort of normal driving.

1. Liability. No way are they going to recommend something that COULD be argued in court by ignorant people that it COULD possibly cause some kind of issue.
2. They sell tires. Selling 4 tires is better for them than selling 2.

I agree. There isn't really much of an issue. But I still recommend the above burn out. It's fun and the situation gives you the perfect "excuse" to behave immaturely...and love it! Remember, take pics!
