Default Shifter Boot

What is the best way to get the shifter boot off of an '08 A6. I do not want to tear it. Thanks.

I think this is correct. When I put in my MGW shifter and new console, I had to remove the boot mounting. I recall there's a rim that encircles the console shift hole from underneath the console. I remembered thinking that I'd need to take out the console if I ever decided to upgrade the boot.

There's lots of good "how to's" on removing the console. Just go slow...I'd also recommend doing some masking tape to protect edges and ashtrary cover.

Thanks. I removed the console already. I just need to remove the boot from the shifter.
