Default DIC says Check Charging System

not service charging system. Anyone have info on this DIC? It seems most get Service not Check Charging Sysyem.

Comes on for a second then is gone. Only happens at stoplights. Sporadic in nature. Voltage was approx 14 and stable when happens. No UD pulley.

Had the same thing with the asme reaction. checked it out and it was the horn relay gone bad, didn't notice that the horn sounded funny, but that is what is was, replaced it and all was good from there on out.

tried the horn this morning and it seemed fine. Hmmm. Tried blinkers and hazard lights for grins. Seems fine. drove it this am and let it idle 3-4 times for 5-10 minutes a time and it was fine too. This is weird. Roofless, was your message Service charging sys or Check charging sys. Also was your message intermittent?

I had a similar problem with my 03. turns out the ground on the alternator was loose. The same thing happened shortly thereafter and it was the block ground.

Had the same problem on mine - several times during the first week after delivery. Service tech said there was a TSB - bring it in. They replaced the alternator and have not had the problem since. I still have the paperwork - they charged GM back for the replaced alternator.

Sorry - did not think to get the TSB # from him, and never bothered to look it up afterwards either.

(Yes I know - a wealth of information. I apologize for that.)

Anyway -check with your service guy. Who knows if the TSB might have been for real...... YMMV of course.

Thanks,
Noel

no it says Service charging system. I was dead wrong. I was able to see it again today. The medication wore off and I read it correctly.

Had same issue on my 07. Took it to dealer, they changed the alternator. Problem solved! BTW, only had about 1200 mi.
