I had a tuner help with install with mine after doing a TB & manifold port. Was he suppose to do that? Disconnect the battery...

I don't think the instructions said to disconnect the battery. I didn't disconnect mine when I did my install. I figured if it was important they would include it in the instructions.... but, on the other hand I have seen much better instructions in my day. Like the time I bought my kid a bike made in China, and all the instructions were written in chineese .

My car was tuned right after the install of the vararam, so it wouldn't affect me if the battery was disconnected or not. If disconnecting the battery was THAT important, I'm sure it would have been stated in the instructions.

Check your connections.
Did you remove any maf screens? That would do it too.

I didn't disconnect my battery when I installed my Vararam, and I've never had any problems.

Would you recommend going to a shop for tuning and/or buying a tuner and adjusting the system after installing the Vararam?

On a manual tranny car, you don't have the MAF influencing line pressure, so your Vararam did not lead to your tranny's demise.

Maybe a few missed shifts or lack of rev matching on downshifts would be more likely culprits.
