Default Brake Longevity

I just turned over 60,000 miles on my 2005 Z51 with the original brake pads. Because of other posts on this forum citing replacement at lower miles and experience with other vehicles (non-Corvette) brakes going out after only 30,000 miles, I decided I would replace the brakes. I was amazed to find all the original pads worn nice and evenly and 1/8 inch of pad thickness still left on all the pads! My guess is these pads would have been good for at least another 10,000 miles. Way to go GM! These pads would occasionally give a low pitched growl under certain braking conditions, but I never found this to be a problem.

Good news. I'm sure you are easy on the brakes as I am. I had a Firebird that I replaced the front pads at 60,000 miles. I hope I'm as lucky as you with my C6.

My 96 4 Runner has all original brake equipment, with 156,000 miles on the odometer!! Still has lots of pad left too.

Fluid changes only.

I hate brake dust, so I have replaced the pads on every car I have a week after I get them with ceramic's.

My wife thinks I am nuts and most likely so will most of you, buts that's OK.

This has to be some kind of record! I went through 4 sets of tires and brakes with my C5 Z06 in less than 20K miles.

That is good news. GM pads usually last a long time. Longer than most other brands.
