Default ZO6 Brakes

I'm changing pads and one brake guide pin is geting mangled since some monster stood on it when the car was assembled. In other words, I'm going to run it when I take it out. Where can I get new pins? Gene Culley does not list them. In fact all GM parts places list no brake parts, what gives?

The problem is not over tighting the bolts, its corrorsion caused by dissimiliar metals. Many Z owners remove the pad retaining bolts as soon as possible and apply a product like Never Seez to prevent the corrorsion. The pad retaining bolts are available from GM and many forum vendors. Do a search on Z06 brakes and you will find all of the answers.

I can understand the use of an anti-seize product after you get them out, but one is just too tight to break loose with messing it up.

ps. no parts vendor show a listing for the brake pad pins. I have inquires out to Gene Culley.

Try the Z06 section. I was looking over there is at least one company who makes them with a six point head on it so a wrench or socket can remove them instead of an allen wrench or a torx.

I think the only way to get the pins is in a complete pad set @ $600. I've got an extra set but I'm afraid to let them go.

they come with pads. I used anti sieze, and they still freeze up. I have found that when swapping between street and track pads it is way easier and quicker to just unbolt the entire caliper, swap the pads and bolt it back on.

When I powdercoat them for people, I can get the bolts out 95% of the time, but I heat the caliper to 250 degrees and saturate the bolt with wd-40. With an impact wrench, they usually come right out, but not always.
