I relocated my coils and wanted to shave my valve covers down andpolish them. However, it seems on my 05 that the **** to mount the coils are threaded deeper than the surface of the cover. If you flip it over you can see lil bubbles where the threads recess into.
So, I don't have a TIG to fill them, Katechs are out due to cost. I like the GM performance parts one but it seems I will have to tap a fitting for the breather line on the passengers side. What are you guys running, what were your fixes for the line? Pics? Searches result all kinds of un related posts. Thanks!
Hey RJ, what relocation kit did you use? I am looking to get one also.
I am ordering new valve covers from Gene at GMparts house and having Corvette Pilot powder coat the tops only. Couldn't you just get exact replacements and polish them as well?

How about showing us some photos of the work in progress?
Ok, I will take some pics. I made a relocation kit myself after staring at Machineworks for a while. I don't think mine is as clean as his but I'm a tard with a welder. If you were to crawl up inside and look hard you will see my shotty work but if you aren't looking it works and looks ok. I took the coils off the stock frame and stood them on their sides. Then used threaded rod with acorn nuts and ran them in a u shaped bracket I welded up. Each coil is spaced with black 1/2" pvc pipe cut to fit. That bracket mounts to a plate that bolts to the heads. So, they are about as high as they were on the covers, just sitting on their sides about 2 or 3 inches from the head towards the fenders. Then you have to extend the main feed for the coil wires. Use the stock harness for the coils, just remove it from the plastic case thing. One of my valve covers is polished... I wanted to see if it would take. My LT1 actually rusted after I polished it, high steel content in the alloy. These work fine. Thanks for the offer to fill. I may take you up on that. I knew I should have bought a TIG. KATECH has those raw covers on special right now for $299. I dunno. I like the GMPP ones too for $200 but I would have to put a fitting in there. We'll see. I will post some pics on my next break. I'm installing an MGW, putting on the widebody rear, new wheels, and I have to make center caps for my IForged. I buy gloss black centers, lips, the works and they send me chrome cener caps. It should be obvious I don't like chrome. lol So, I bought 2" C6 flags from cyberdine, filled the caps and painted them gloss black.
