Default Poly Suspension Bushings ?

Reading LEAVINU's post about the PFADT (poly) sway bar bushings ( http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2054816 ) got me thinking about the whole idea of poly suspension bushings "all 'round."

I know that PFADT also supplies a whole kit of poly bushings and the assorted metal stuff to go with them... seems like a good idea (but what do I know?).

Questions...
  • What are the benefits of the more 'rigid' poly bushings?
  • What's the downside?
  • How hard to install?
  • Noisy?
Anybody had any real-world experience with this?

Cheers,

Rob

Since I had coilovers installed at the same time, I don't know how much difference they make. I can say that the package is outstanding! Knowing how to properly lube them during install is crucial to a noiseless installation. DTE knows how.

I have the PFATD poly bushings for the sway bars and the control arms. The sway bars are a DIY. The control arm bushings can be a DIY for some, but not for most. The old bushings have to be melted out with a blow torch. The whole procedure can take most of a day and then you have to get a total realignment. I chose to also have the PFADT camber kit installed at the same time.
I have ZERO noise issues at this time. The responsiveness of the whole car is improved. The downside is small, in my case, as I also have the FSD shocks and the overall ride quality is still better than the original Z51 set up.

poly will just about last forever,no shrink, harder,if you use the special grease on the assembly it shouldn't make any noise

Pfadt Polyurethane Bushings

If your car still has the factory rubber bushings, you’re losing valuable control due to the flex of the soft rubber bushings installed at the factory. Our poly kit will make your car respond to turns like the super car that it is! The factory bushings are known to deflect more than a ¼ inch in turns which equates to almost 1 degree of lost camber. With our poly bushings that deflection is gone and you’ll make the most of your alignment.

Our poly bushings are graphite impregnated for long life and low friction. They are engineered with special grooves to retain lubricant on the bearing surface, keeping the noise away. We include lots of lube specific to our polyurethane. In addition, we’ve engineered custom aluminum sleeves for light weight, low friction operation. The front upper pivots are machined with an offset to offer maximum camber adjustment.

Unlike most kits available, the Pfadt kit also includes the lower rear shock mounts, just another feature setting it apart from the competition.

There really isn't a downside, the ride does become a bit firmer however. The installation is about 8-10 hours and the majority of that time is removing the suspension components from the car. When the bushings are properly installed using our grease you won't have any issues with noise.

Please feel free to contact us so we can help you get the right package for your specific application!

If you install the uppers in the rear, you will have a BIG increase in road noise, just be ready for that if you go for it. I have done full poly in other cars, and it will get to you after a while if it is a DDriver.

I did upper and lower control arms and I didn't know there was a road noise problem until you mentioned it. By that I mean there is no difference in my car.
