I've been searching the C6 area for some dyno #s of an LS3 with an intake and tune. There are some in the 415rwhp range. Is this on the high end of the scale or is it what one would normally expect with a CAI and decent tune? Please post personal results if avail.
I'm getting 401 HP @6,119rpm & 375 Ft-Lbs @5,218rpm on a Mustang dyno. AF is 12.6.
Tune by Breathless Performance on a '08 MN6 with (open) NPP exhaust, and Vortex rammer.
I assume that, similar to other "thru - shroud" air units; results may improve off the dyno stand with some ram-air effect although I wonder at what speed, if any, this takes place.
There is no ram air effect. The power gain comes from lower intake air temps. The stock units pull much hotter under hood air. The hotter the inlet air the lower the power output to put it simply.
LS3 with bolt-ons we've made some good numbers. Here is a link to one of the cars that we did:
The car has gone a best of 11.68 @ 121+ MPH on run-flats in not so great air. Low 11's for sure with a good tire and air. The power is backed up by the track times.
I got 419.4 rwhp on a Mustang dyno with my 08 A6 and with NPP, also at Breathless Performance. Breathless is almost at sea level. Aside from the tune, they also installed a 160 thermostat and a Vortex CAI, but those things wouldn't come into play.
I'm sure that's at the high end of the scale, but it can be done. There's probably higher out there.
