Default Directions for Header Install

Anyone know where I can go to get some good step by step directions on the a header install? I am not very mechanically inclined but I think me and a friend or two might give installing headers a try on the vette. I just bought a used set of kooks 1 3/4 and catless x pipe/mids. Trying to decide if I wanna give it a shoot or shell out the 4-500 to get them installed.

Let me know! Thanks!

Also, any suggestions or anything I should know before I attempt this? Thanks!

it's pretty easy I did it last sat. it took about 2 hours total. I just jacked the front and back up you need about 24inches of clearance. you take the plastic covers off then the sparkplugs and wires. then I unbolted the cats from the headers and the x pipe and dropped them out then I unbolted the x pipe and put it aside of course you have to unhook the 02 sensors both sets then unbolt the manifold and they will drop right out the bottom I would recomend having a buddy there to help raise and lower the headers they aren't heave it just makes it easier. I used the GM gasket I wouldn't recomend the gasket that comes with the kit. it may work I just didn't like it. and then put the x pipe and everything back together it's pretty easy.

Header install is not the toughest DIY job, but when you say you're not mechanically inclined, does that also mean you don't have much in the way of tools? You will need a jack & jack stands to get the exhaust pipes off & then a reasonably good selection of wrenches, ratchets, extensions, sockets, etc for disassembly & installation. You might also contact Kooks directly & ask if they pack an installation guide with their headers....if so, they might be willing to send one to you.

Mechanically inclined; meaning that I have not done a header install before. I will be doing this with a buddy in his garage... he has an exhausting (no pun intended) amount of tools and jackstands, etc. So, we should be good with tools and everything.

Good instructions, but I saved some time by taking out the OEM Cats along with the exhaust manifolds while they were still hooked together. You can still wiggle them out and that way you save from busting your knuckles trying to get the 4 cat bolts/nuts off. Also, I actually did mine without taking out the spark plugs, but I did take out the dip stick tube.
