Default Corsa Extreme converted-

To Touring, i'll be able to tell you what it sounds like tomorrow. As you may or may not know, I put a Corsa extreme on last week, and the combo of long-tube headers, cam, and no cats proved to be TOO LOUD! So, I ordered a "sport-to-touring" conversion from Maryland Speed, and it came in today.

So, we'll see.

You wouldn't happen to have any clips of your old setup would you?

I have LG Pro headers (with cats) and Corsa Xtreme. I am curious as to how this setup would sound without the cats?

Yes, My buddy at the dealership video'd the car right after the install-it will blow you out of the water. I'd say, just under the level of uncapped headers.

Will try to post on Youtube and i'll provide a link.

Doesn't fit!

DOES NOT FIT THE EXTREME ON A HEADER CAR. I'm pi$$ed, now I have a piece of **** I can't use, and a car that's as loud as an F-16 in full burner.

Gonna go sulk for a while and then figure something out.

What doesn't fit? Can you explain more?

What headers do you have?

Yea, I've got L.G. Longtubes, no cats. The Conversion I guess is meant to go from the stock exhaust manifolds thru the supplied resonators to the mufflers. WAY too small to fit onto the exhaust pipes from the headers. Not having cats makes no difference on the fitment because the pipe is the same size whether you have cats or not.

So, I called Corsa Technical )prob should have done that in the first place, rather than trust forum member input) and the guy told me that i'd need the sport mufflers which you can buy seperately.

I'm NOT happy.

Oh, well, le$$on learned, move on with life.

What about buying the cats from LG and have them added?! $300 and you should be good to go?

Kooks makes connection pipes that will connect their headers to Corsa's X-pipe and touring system. We have a bunch of customers with this setup..and see it all the time. I am not sure about LG...but I am guessing they have nothing like that because their header is much longer.

I thought about that--I'm gonna give ant (Anthony, at L.G.) a call in the morning, and see what he says. My tune has the aftercat O2 sensors tuned out, so I wouldn't have to retune to use the cats, I just don't think it'll tone it down enough. I love the sound at idle, it made the cam hit HARD. But, when you nail it-ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!

I took my daughter to the movies Sat. night, in the Vette, and people were stopping in their tracks and looking with a puzzled look, like "What the hell is that?"

I mean, it sounds awesome, but just a bit too loud. If I could just tone it down a smidge at WOT.

I was gonna call you this a.m., MrDrezzUp, but I got tangled up in something else. Thank you for your kind offer of helping me sort out this exhaust problem.

On a side note-this was 100% MY MISTAKE, had NOTHING to do with the EXCELLENT SERVICE that I recieved from MARYLAND SPEED. I am COMPLETELY SATISFIED with their products and services, so much so, a Vararam is on its way to my house from them as we speak.

I've still got a great looking, running, and sounding car-what could be better?!

Have you thought about adding a vortex cone? Pretty cheap and should quiet them down a bit without restricting flow much at all.

Yep, that's what I was afraid of--

The day I got the conversion in, the dealership was putting on a Borla touring on another corvette with the same headers. It sounded good, a little on the quiet side, but he had cats and was "no cam", where I have no cats and have a cam. I think that would sound just about right

thoughts anyone?

Can make someone a HECK of a deal on a very slightly used Corsa Extreme

You see what I said about the vortex cones? Think they run like $20

I had the Xtremes behind the Corsa H for the A6, Kooks headers and cats. Left the Corsa H in place to hinder the drone, and added the Stingers out back. I think I'm done. Really like the sound.

Removing the cats does not add much volume? Great piece of information.

My biggest concern after hearing the LG Pro (with cats) is that it was a tad too quiet. :o Although I do like the sound when you stomp on it. It really barks!

I am having a hard time imaging my setup as being considered "loud". I always assumed it was the cats quieting my setup down. On my previous car I put cats on (the car came without cats) and there was quite a volume difference after the cats were installed.

How much gurgling/popping do people have with the Corsa midpipe? The LG Pro headers include the midpipe and when I downshift I have a fair bit of gurgling/popping.

On my gto i had kooks headers catted mids with the corsa sport and a cam.The cats aren't going to help you it was insane loud when you got on it and was very loud at idle but at cruise speed it was quit.I think you wil need to go with a quieter catback to solve your problem.I am sure you will have no problems selling what you have.

Good Luck
