That bulletin wouldn't apply to an '08. Compressor? Did they tell you that they were getting unusual readings? It would still be nice to know if the compressor was still running when this happens, and also about controlling fan speeds.
picked the car up this past Friday , dealer says it is fixed . I have not been able to drive it for over an hour as yet so i am not sure , but the ride home from the dealer is about 45 minutes and so far so good . they replaced the compressor , i was not able to talk to the tech, as i picked it up after hours, so not sure what else they did . One note, my son and i both noticed the a.c. is definitely not as cold as it was , but it is cold enough to be comfortable, so as long as it stays blowing strong on longer trips we will happily live with it .
Car seems to be fixed and had a chance to talk to service advisor as to what the problem was . apparently there are some sort of low and high pressure settings on the compressor that basically tell it when to turn on and off . the setting that shuts it down should be set at 30psi ? and mine was set at 18 psi , which prevented the compressor from shutting off and cycling the way it should . This caused the system to freeze up .
this also explains why the a.c. does not seem quite as cold as before , as the compressor is not running as long between cycles . This makes sense to me and although i have not driven the car for a long period as yet, i will be tomorrow , but i am confident .
Unfortunately I was able to talk to the tech about this because my windshield wipers stopped working , mid windshield ! blew the fuse . i replaced the fuse and it blew again right away , obviously a short of some kind , brought the car back in and was told the harness that runs under the rear hood support at the base of the windshield was routed incorrectly and was pinched and shorted out , they replaced the wire and off we go again .
Really frustrated with this car , my last corvette was an early 06 Z06 and i had all the usual problems associated with the first run of that car, but i didnt mind as much as those issues seemed almost excusable to me . ( half shaft exploded , top became unglued , etc..etc..) but with this 08 car , i really would have thought GM would have had the AC and windshield wipers systems worked out by now . LOL
