Default Check engine light and code...any suggestions?

Got a check engine light, Autozone said the code is P0442:
EVAP (evaporative emission system) small leak/no flow condition
1. defective or loose fuel cap
2. evap canister or hose cracked/not connected
3. purge or vent soleniod defective
4. vacuum leak at engine

I looked at the gas cap it looked fine. It had been a week since I refilled and drove it everyday since. I installed my FAST many months ago and I'm very familiar with all the vacuum hoses and MAP sensor. I did not see anything out of place. The brake vacuum line in the back has serious suction at the master cylinder, no leak there. The car idles smoothly and does not act like the time I forgot to install the vacuum line above the MAP sensor after the FAST install.

So assuming my gas cap is defective, I am at a loss here. My plan is to disconnect and reconnect the battery and see if the code returns. If it does, I guess I'll buy a new gas cap.

By the way, I just had is dyno'd on Friday. But this code doesn't seem like it is a tuning issue.

Any suggestions??
thanks

it probably is the gas cap. I would retighten it and drive it. After several on off cycles without a problem, the light should reset by itself.

It should still be under warranty. You can try your luck with the dealer.
I would invest in a scanner that will allow you to check and reset codes yourself. I bought an EQUUS INNOVA 3120 so that I can do both OBD 1 and II, but you can get an OBD II only scanner for under $60. Clear the code and reseal the gas cap and see if it comes back.

The dealer is out of the question. I have headers, and a FAST with a custom tune. The first thing they'll do is reflash the computer to stock. Just like you said, I will reseat the gas cap and reset the code and keep my fingers crossed. thanks.

I have this engine light on also. It went away last time I tightened the gas cap but showed up with 3/4 tank of gas. I tightened it again but it has not gone off, will let if cycle some more.

Have Lingerfelter Mods on the car, Supercharger, Corsa exhaust, new cold air induction.

I hope it will reset. Is it hard to reset the codes with the analyzer you are suggesting? I am not a tech but am fairly computer savy.

Would appreciate any insight. Thanks.
