I was wondering if anyone especially the fast guys could help me out
Spin, Joe G, Dennis, Craigster, Welcome2try, etc I went to the track with my PS2s and had
some major wheel hop. I got out of it as soon as possible, and got back in it still spinning! Which is telling me the car is more powerful than I thought. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to avoid wheelhop I limped off the line at 1500 that seemed to do it
but hurt my 60 ft. Can I buy anything or do anything to the suspension without changing the characteristic's of the car???
Change Shocks or move battery?
I think shocks would change the car.

did you try lower tire pressure to get the tires to hook better or maybe a better burnout just some sugestions. and may be you will have to gradually give it more gas instead of full throttle right off the bat. I know if I hammer it from a dead stop is spins like crazy but I have to do it gradually with just a little bit of tire spin. again some sugestions I know I'm not on the fast list lol but I think they will help
It's never happened to me at the dragstrip or autox. But it has happened near my house where I practice launches during colder weather. Bottom line is I'm not sure what causes it but cool weather seems to be a factor.

I ran with 25 in the rears.
I was afraid to go much lower I didnt want to hurt the mph
I will try it next thursday Im going back! LOL!
Ill try 20 22 and go from there
thanks for the help

The answer is simple IMHO. Never go to the track on runflats. They have way too hard a sidewall - I've seen 4 rears break at the track on runflats...I think racing on them is flirting with disaster.
I run only drag radials with 18 psi, they have nice soft sidewalls. I don't get wheelhop and have over 200 runs.
Plus, DR's are $400 a set vs. $400 a tire! Look at it this way. You could go ice skating on in sneakers...but it wouldn't be much fun. The proper shoes are equally as important on the drag strip (and road course for that matter). The beauty of the Vette is that with the proper shoes, it can excel at so many venues.

I've experience the same thing. Eventually i cracked the rear case, broke two axles and cracked the bell housing. I got a lot of good suggestions on the CF. I tried a few of them and wheel hop is very rare. How much air are you running with in your tires? I reduced the air pressure in the rear tires and increased the air pressure in the front. I replaced my shocks with QA1 double adj on the front and single adj on the rear. You'll have the ability to adj the front to lift quicker & stay up longer and adj the rear to squat quicker and stay down longer all this means is better weight transfer. You'll also be able to soften the ride for long distance or stiffen the ride for country driving or road racing. I had severe wheel hop running the 1/4 mile on drag radials. I replaced the shocks and eliminated the wheel hop on drag radial, and there's very little wheel hop using street tires.
Thanks for the reply Joe
I had Mich PS2s installed earlier that day all around
305 30 19s and stock up front
Mike
You'll be a lot happer with drag radials. If you plan to go to the strip make them your next mod before you do anything else. Trust me.
You getting "engine drag control active" with those tires when you let off the gas at high speed? My buddy GTOdoug did when he went to 305's, ended up having to buy new taller front tires.

If you want to learn about 1/4 mile setups you should post in the 1/4 section of the forum or come out to the Corvette Challenge at Etown. There are plenty of the fastest cars at the Corvette Challenge that you could look at to see what they are doing.
July 12th there is the:
ECS Corvette Challenge for all corvettes
American Racing Headers Pro 8 Shootout presented by Carroll's Rod & Racecraft
Pro 11.5 index
I will most likely be running the 11.50 index just for fun and support the cause.
As far as wheel hop at the track I have never gotten any with DRs on the car at the track. As mentioned the runflats with the stiff sidewalls are not a good idea at the track for someone that is going to dump the clutch at a high RPM.
maybe hold out until you get your DRs on and then see if it goes away. If so than you dont have to worry at the track just on the street.
Mike,
Did I read that correctly? You had just had the tires placed on the car THAT day? New tires are famous for being slick. The manufacturing oils, etc, that release them from the molds are still on or near the surface. Give them a few miles and they MAY be better. Also if you did a really good job of heating them via burnout that should have helped with the oils issue.
Oh Yes I heated them ok! LOL! I was a bit anxious to get to the track LOL! I am going to the track again thursday. I would love to see some vettes at Atco! I will be going quite a bit 2 to 3 time a month to get me some more seat time
Mike
Thanks for everyones help and comments!
I have a set of 18" after market black rims coming off my 2005. They have BRAND NEW ($500) Nitto 555 Drag Radials that were just put on. They are 305/35/18 in the rear and stock tires up front.
I just added rear fenders and 345 Hoosiers in the rear for traction.
They are at Next Level Performance, Ask for Tom. (407) 869-7223
