Default Advice on 07 seat electronics.

I own a base 07 C6 with power driver seat and manual passenger seat. I have just removed the base seats and replaced them with 07 Z06 seats. I am having a problem with getting the Z06 power seat to operate. It looks identical electronically with the base power driver seat with 2 exceptions.

First, it has seat warmers which my model did not have, thus they are not hooked up. Then, it has side air bags which I also could not hook up. Don't know if this matters to the general operation of the seat or not. Other electonic plugs are hooked and fit perfectly. Perhaps the computer needs adjustment?

Anyone who could give advice will the appreciated.

Well.....I saw your post, and although I've swapped out my Z06 seats for seats out of a regular C6 in order to get lumbar support and adjustable side bolsters both sides and full power position adjustment for the passenger side, I really didn't have any idea on your situation.

Butt....let me try to add something that you might check.

My Z06 seats had the side airbags and heat, and the driver's side was 6-way power adjustable, I guess like the seats you're putting in.

My Z06 had the highest trim level available with the memory seat feature. When I swapped out my Z06 seat for the C6 seat, I was advised that if I didn't swap out the "memory module" in the driver's seat that I'd have to take it to the dealer to get them to use their Tech 2 to get the BCM to recognize the other memory module. I just swapped the memory module from my Z06 seat, put the Z06 seat skin on the C6 seat, put it in my Z06, and it worked fine.

So.....I assume that if the Z06 seats you're putting into your base C6 have airbags and heat that they have the memory module as well. If your C6 does not have the memory feature it may not be able to communicate with the seat motors if the car doesn't recognize (or is not recognized by) the memory module.

Here's a pictue of my driver's side Z06 seat after I took it out and replaced it with a C6 seat:

I assume the seat you're trying to put into your C6 is exactly like the seat in the picture above. In the picture you can see a small tan/light brown box - that's the memory module. I took the one out of the seat in the picture and put it into the C6 seat before installing it in my Z06.

You can see a larger black box - I think that's the controller that, when you operate a switch, sends the signal to the proper motor.

If you don't have the memory features in your car then the memory module in the Z06 seat may be confused, or it may be intercepting the switch inputs and not transmitting them to the controller properly because either you don't have the memory, or because you need to get a Tech 2 to reprogram your car to recognize it.

Anyway.....that's all I can think of. Good luck with the issue.

Bob
