Default Forged Aluminum Wheels

Just wondering if I get some forged wheels for WCC that are 19 and 20s how much effect do you think it will have on my vette? As in ride comfort and SOP power? I figure they are aluminum so they won't be that bad right? I have never had forged aluminum wheels before so I don't know what to expect Thanks

The benefit of Forged wheels is that they are generally lighter and stronger. Upping the size an inch increases weight though, so that will probably be a wash. You'll feel some handling differences and you may increase harshness as you'l be moving to a lower profile tire to keep rolling diameters the same... Most here do it for the look..

Are the stock wheels forged aluminum too? Do you think I will feel the difference in acceleration from stock wheels going to forged aluminum wheels that are an inch bigger?

Only the 08-09 "Gumby" wheels are forged. YOu give away some of that weight savings when you get the chromed 09 versions. Anytime you increase the rotating mass you take a bit of a performance hit. Without knowing the Weight of the proposed wheel/tire package it's hard to guestimate. Standard tires are generally lighter than OEM runflats, but upping things an inch may remove that advantage. I'm betting you won't see/feel any difference in that dept.

Hi
I have the 19/20 combo and I wouldn't go any other way, unless I planned on dragging the car. Otherwise I think the look is really tuff and I didn't notice any SOTP change.....Good Luck

I have the CCW 505a, 20X12.5X335s on the rear, 19X10/X275 fronts and the car is lowered (Z51). Handles and looks great but you have to realize you are going to have to work to keep the aluminums polished at least oncer per week versus just washing off the chromes.

Cast wheels break, forged wheels bend.

Keep in mind that not all forged wheels are lighter (or stronger). There are different quality wheels available in forged as well as in cast.

Beautiful wheels - nicest design I've seen! Wish I could find something similar in chrome. I've done my "hard time" with a big tube of Mother's polish & rags & then I'd want to polish the inner rim! ECD disorder I guess. Any suggestions from members very welcome but hat's off to you & your ride!!!
