Default Which CAI is best

Don't flame me for this thread, just trying to figure out what afer market CAI will give me the best performance while keeping the temps down. Have a HAlltech on there now and cut shroud.

now you know, hands down Vararam is the best. and proven the fastest by being on the fastest bolt/on c6, if you want cooler water temps get a 160 stat and ewp with cartek fan module

The Halltech is the best without cooling or water ingestion concerns-keep it!

Is the Halltech an open element filter? Any system that doesn't seperate the filter from the engine bay is bad news... The IATs will be through the roof on hotter days... I logged my friends Killer Bee and he sees 120-140 Iats on a regular basis here in tx.. You need to make sure the filter isn't exposed. This gets worse if you have headers because the underhood temps increase. If the Halltech has something over the filter, then it would be ok, but not as good as the Vararam, Honker, etc.....

I would rate the CAIs like this...

Vararam
*
LPE, Honker, Vortex
*
*
*
*
Any open air element

All are an inprovement over the stock setup. I like the Vararam since it a cold air system. I noticed a nice improvement and coupled with Nakid Parts Shroud Cover, it looks stock. I don't have any 1/4 mile times but the SOTP meter says more power It fit perfectly and cutting the stock shroud is challenging but to be true CAI, it has to be done.

There's that one that begins with a 'V', uhh not sure what it's called, it like 'Rams' the air in there a bit, it's on the tip of my tongue, what was that damn name now.
Oh yeah, it's called the VARARAM!

The Vararam is generally regarded has giving the most HP. it is also generally know as the poorest build quality with the crapiest instructions. There are also people who have had the seal fail between the 2 halves of the filter cover and one report of the spacer becoming seperated and allowing dirt directly into the engine. Poor fit is another issue people have been complaining about.

If I were you I'd keep the intake you have.

Are there any good ones that don't require "cutting"?
