'08 with A6 Muffler Swap
Helms Manual says it may be necessary to lower the rear suspension crossmember for removal.
I have an '08 A6 with NPP and am replacing them with Fusion mufflers.
Did the search thing here, but didn't find anything that addresses my question.
Has anybody here removed the mufflers on an '08 A6 with NPP without going through the pain of lowering the cross member?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Crossmember won't need to come out. Not a chance.

I think it's the rear sway bar that needs to be dropped. Just unbolt one side and let it hang down.

Thanks for your reply.
The crossmember thing was holding me up.

I do not have NPP and I used a lift to do my fusions. There is no way we could get the old ones out without unbolting the sway bar. I really like the Fusions and I hope you will as well.

Sway generally needs to come out. Easy.
I did mine on ramps. You will enjoy getting to know your car from the underside installing these.

Need to clarify "dropping the sway bar". The rear bar is held to the crossmember/frame with 2 brackets that have bushings in them. Unbolt the brackets (1 nut and 1 bolt on each bracket) and the sway bar will swing down on the end links to where it is out of the way.
Before anybody asks;
Torque settings are;
Bolts to 70 lb ft
Nuts to 49 lb ft.

Glad to hear that somebody did it on ramps. I have the long set of RaceRamps.
Going to have to give it a try this weekend.

Just me, and my assistant "Bubba".
Piece of cake. Only tough part getting bolts on front of H-pipe out- a bit of a tight squeeze up there, since the front tires were still on the ground, but manageable.
