Default Exhaust cutouts

I'm planning to add a set behind LG long tubes and in front of stock mufflers (no cats). Looking to do it one time. Hoping to find a quality kit that will last without a whole lot of upkeep. There's probably quite a few setups that will last a while before the hot gasses will take their toll. If it won't last, I don't want it. Anybody had them for more than a few years and a few thousand miles?

Also, I'm wanting a system that will allow partial opening. Might not want the complete open headers sound all the time. Being able to "tune" the sound would be a plus. Where did you mount the switch? Help appreciated.

I was all gung ho to do this and was talked out of it - told that it is loud but not a "quality" loud. Heard it in person and I kind of agree. Now I am looking to go NPP or B&B Fusion although I am sure that the shop that will be working on my car wants me to use GHL.

As I have Kooks LT with cats, Callaway Honker, 160 thermo and a tune, I am sure it will be plenty loud with any of the three exhaust but a bimodal will keep the noise down when I am alone and loud when I am with the wife (WHAT HONEY, SPEAK UP!!! I CAN'T HEAR YOU)

I'm hoping "quality loud" can be adjusted. It would be nice to adjust the sound based on the situation. That's what I'm looking for. Quiet and subdued vs loud and totally ridiculously obnoxiously horrible on demand.

Great Info! That's the direction I'm going. It's pricey, but still way less expensive than adding a set of loud mufflers that don't have the ability to shut up when you're not in the mood. Do you have any idea how many miles you have on your setup? Still no problems?

I've had them 1.5 years I guess. I've replaced one motor $35 and 3 bolts. I am going to replace the other one today as it's finally going. They start clicking before they go.

I love the mod but based on my and my buddy's experience, you will have to eventually replace the motors. They live a hard life. But I LOVE this mod. It's a small price to pay.

I had dual QTP cutouts on my Camaro, they ALWAYS leaked when they were closed (sounded like a BAD exhaust leak), the plastic covering on the motors melted and they fell off. I just had blockoff plates put in their place. Cool mod in theory, if I could get a guarantee they would work for more than 2 years I would do it again, but for all the trouble I went through it wasnt worth it.

I have had QTP's for about a year now with no issues and they get used quite a bit.

When did you have these? Just wondering if they've updated/refined/improved the system. I don't want to buy in to a bunch of probs, but I like the potential. I hope they have improved.

i did them too, cost about 500 in parts and i fabbed/ installed for about 20 hours, very loud when open, i and everyone whos heard it loves it, sounds like nascar. when closed its quiet like you shut the engine off, i have a slight rattle but not a leak because i had to flip on of the motors 180* in order to fit like it is and didnt tighten it enough, will fix during winter (its not very noticeable so no need to tear it apart yet)

my install/ fabrication process:

pm me questions, i highly recommend over npp if you want max sound/ performance
