simply put any aftermarket intake is gonna flow better than OEM. I'd really like to find someone who could feel a 3-5 hp difference between brand X and brand Y. Same with headers same with everything. Hell cars can run a few tenths different depending on weather. Any time I'm asked which intake/headers etc. should I get I ask the person back which one is on sale? because no one is realistically gonna feel the 5 hp difference.

I personally think there is more than a 5RWHP difference between the Vararam at speed vs the others...
Dont give me that!!

Lets try and bring this back on track here guys, we clearly all know who is a bench racer at this point, so no point in responding to the ridiculousness.
We install and recommend Vararams, with that being said, a few years back now we were the first shop to break 600rwhp NA with stock heads and that was with a Halltech intake. That car also still holds the NA MPH record of 138.x, I wish we did some back to back testing on it to see if there was a substantial difference between the two.
AMAZING ecs argues with me when Im right, and when we agree????
I challenged your boy and he never accepted???
The offer still stands.
I even offered to pay his way in to the track????
WHOS the bench racer????
You guys should STICK to what your good at TALKING!!!

Mike can you elaborate on this? I am not sure what you are asking for. There are time slips for all ECS runs that are documented.
But you are correct if there is no slip than it is not counted. This stops the "it could be" arguments.
I have vararam my car and feel it really works for RR application. I have driven at Watkins Glen in pouring rain at track speeds with no problems so I dont think the rain is an issue.
I think the Honker is also a good choice so I guess it depends on what work you want to do with the install as others have said...
I agree with Weasel! You can't beat the Vararam.... Forget about the water ingestion....
The only way to get water in there is to do a swan dive and PLUNGE THE CAR INTO 2 or more foot deep lakes of standing water.
There's a lot more to the VARARAM than the obvious RAM-AIR scoop. The engineer that designed it carefully sculpted it to ACCELERATE the air and actually RAM it into the throttle body.....
Over and above all that, while VOLUMES of air is nice....Realize that a large part of the science behind the VARARAM is the drastic reduction in intake air temp. Not only is cold air good for the engine, but LSx computers take it one step futher and actually increase ignition timing proportionate to the reduction in intake air temp. VERY NICE!
If all that isn't enough to convince you....Try calling the guys at VARARAM...They are a pleasure to deal with and go out of their way to accomodate their customers. Where else can you call and get the OWNER and ENGINEER behind the product on the phone to answer your questions???
That's why Corvettes of Westchester exclusively uses VARARAM!

What the heck are you talking about? I don't have to prove anything here, I probably have a half dozen record holding passes that I piloted let alone what customers have done. You are the one who talks the talk but has never walked the walk.
UT offered to race you for titles, so how the heck can you say he is not manning up? Man, your out there... so long

Mike please do not bring ECS into your challenge against UT. I realize you have an ulterior motive to try and bring down ECS with your challenge, but this is a challenge between your car and UTs and not a challenge between tuners.
OK guys ecs UT what ever Call a mod cause you didnt get your way again! would be the first time.
I still dont know why I reply to ut or ecs
I gotta stop stooping to your level.
I would really like to settle this on the track.
I will no longer reply to either of you
unless it has to do with you racing me at ATCO.
Have a great day.

Wow crazy thread about a Vararam? Before ECS did all the work on my car I had a Vararam, it works well.
If only my car wasn't a vert and I could run it, it would be a 9 second car:o . I think I'll call it a 9 second car from now on Doug one of these days we need to throw some slicks on it sneek it on the track and let you take it out for a few runs so I can be in the club with time slips, 9999999999's

Any time Dave! But please, dont call it a nine second car until it is!! Otherwise your bench racing!!
PM me your phone number and I'll call you when a rental comes up.

True, it would take one seriously sensitive driver to detect a mere 3-5hp difference LOL.
But that's assuming that there is only a 3-5hp difference...and on a dyno that is likely all there would be showing as well so again there appears to be no definitive gain.
But out on the road/track there could very well be a full 25+hp difference between various CAIs and that I assure you I would feel.
