LS3 casting number

LS3 casting number
Going to check out an 08 and 09 coupe today and was curious if anybody knew if it was possible to see the casting number on the LS3 by lifting the hood? Kinda curious to see if the reported block change made it into the early 09's, and or the later 08's.

Yea, I read an article with one of the Vette engineer's that stated all 09LS3's would have a slighlty modified block due to the develpment work done on the ZR-1.

By the way I wasn't able to really look for any casting numbers. I'm assuming the number was in the traditional place. Would have had to pull the covers off to even have a chance...

What exactly does Bay to Bay breathing entail?

What changes to the ZR1 LS3 block will carry over to the production LS3? Oil Squirters, 11mm head bolts, etc.

The block structural improvements and the improvement in bay to bay breathing will be included in LS3 blocks for 2009.
