Default PLEASE Help- Need to find clutch date code

I unfortunately have a 2005 Vette with a messed up clutch. I have the infamous stuicking to the floor issue. I am aware of Technical service Bulliten 05-07-31-001A. It says that clutches Prior to date code 4M13A/B/C Should be replaced. Ok so here is my problem. The dealer told me that they would be happy to do it, but they need to drop the tranny and everything else and open the clutch assembly to get the date code. I told them to go ahead and do it, and then they told me this: If it does not fall into that date code covered, you will have to pay the labor to put it back together. I escalated the issue to GM customer care only to have them tell me what the dealer told them. I got a regional rep involved and he is backing the dealer. Help! What can I do? Do you know of any other way to determine if my clutch would be covered? Or am I screwed?

The Infamous sticking to the floor syndrome is usually caused be dirty fluid. Have you tried changing it?

When was your car built?

If I remember right the date code is roughly 12/13/04. So if yours was built before that you should be covered. Are they doing this under the standard 3/36 warranty?

Mine has the bad clutch in it but I haven't been brave enough to let a dealer fix it.

The date code is on the clutch assembly and the only way to see it is to pull the complete drivetrain to get access to the clutch.

Do a DOT4 fluid change in the clutch master cylinder with a turkey baster and see if that cures the problem. A whole lot cheaper than the Dealer pulling the drivetrain.

Doing it under extended warranty. Been through the whole fluid change thing many times. I truly believe there is something wrong with the clutch.

The owner had 3 years/36,000 miles to have this clutch issue corrected under warranty. I am not sure how you got beyond 3/36 before this became an issue. Also, GMPP Major Guard was availble to purchase.

Maybe you are not the original owner? If you have not done so already, ask your Chevrolet Service Manager for a goodwill repair.

I had one of the early clutches. The clutch would not fully apply above 5,000 rpm. But I brought it to the dealers attention at 3,000 miles. 3 days later, it had a new clutch, which was a warranty repair at that time.

if its under extended warranty, you shouldn't have to do shazit, let the dealer fix it.
