I replaced the footwells, maplight, license plate and rear hatch area with LEDs from Covettemods GP. They look great but my maplights do not turn off all the way and stay lit very faintly. I searched through threads and the only solutions I found was to either hard wire a buld into one of the footwells along with the LED or put the stockers back in the hatch so not all the lights are LEDs. I really like the look and don't want to put the stockers back in and getting under the dash to hard wire a bulb in doesnt sound like much fun.
That would only happen if the new LEDs you put in don't have a resistor built in. I bought mine from: XXXXXXXX and they have LEDs built in so I have no issues.

It is my understanding, from info provided by the vendor selling them, that if you leave the hatch lights with regular bulbs it won't happen. Wow, long sentence HUH?
So far no problems. But then again I did it 1 week ago AND I drive my car every single day.
I don't even remember not having LEDs in my car I've had them so long. I use it as my DD and everyonce in a while I don't drive it for 2-3 days then I'll go away for a week and come back and it starts right back up.
I've got them for my rearview mirrors, footwells, license plate lights, rear hatch area and I have a big like 36 LED for the hood light. I've never had any issues with battery drain or lights staying on too long or anything.
xxxxxxxxxx
I've emailed them and they use resistors in all of their bulbs. If you are having issues I would give them a try.
As far as adding a resistor I'm not very electrical savvy so I would either email Corvette Mods for a solution or send 'em back and get the Autolumination ones. They are more expensive but I guess you pay for what you get.

I've been wondering if it might just be better to get those "cool blue" halogen 194 bulbs for the vette interior. They wouldn't look quite as nice as LED, but they'd be better than stock and they wouldn't drain the battery.

Ya know, I never looked or noticed if those hatch lights come on when I open the doors! Hmmm ... better look huh? Also the LED's that I use have a fairly large base on them, not like the little pea sized LED in the ambient light thing. Maybe they have the required resistor built in? Oh great, yet another potential problem area.
Thanks for the heads up, best do a bit more checking with the vendor.

I did the same thing- no issues whatsoever. Not sure who you bought your LED's from or how they are made, but I can vouch that the one's from XXXXXXXXXXXXXX- they work great with absolutely no issues. They even still have a very slight "fade out" when they turn off, just like the factory conventional bulbs.

I installed them in the maps, footwells, back plate and front/back side markers........left the stock 194's in the hatch. I noticed the same thing, my maps stay lit very, very dimmly all the time? All others go completely out! And yes, they all still have the dimming "theater lighting" effect..........what gives? I hate to remove them all and send them back, but I will if this issue is not resolved. I'll buy the "other" brand.

pop your foot well and wire 1 origional bulb in place, put the bulb into someting that can contain the heat and you wont have this issue
Geez. Haven't you guys learned you get what you pay for? I now know of at least 2 other people (three including me and the other two being: C6LongShot and 2LT-Z51) who went to XXXXXXXXXXXXX and bought their LEDs and have had ZERO problems. Why is that you ask. They use resistors and make quality products.
I have them everywhere except my glovebox and the two personal mirrors only because I haven't figured out a good way to remove the glovebox one and the mirrors are a PITA but these bulbs work great.
If it sounds like I work for them and get commission I'm sorry but you guys are making it way harder than it really is.

We, bought bulbs that were not cheap auction bulbs. It is a vendor here. I have received an Email from the company, just today, and was told that I will have NO issues with them. My map lights go all the way out and dim as slowly as the stock bulbs did. None of the semi-dim that others seem to see. ??
i kept my interior lights on for 1.5 hours, my stock bulb is inside of a hard plastic connector used for coolant lines, thats wrapped in ceramic wrap for starters, finally its wraped in a pot holder, doesnt even get warm, i dont think this would be the case with a load capacitor
Replaced the footwells, maplight & license plate only (not rear hatch area) with LEDs from Covettemods GP and noticed after your post that my maplights also do not turn off all the way and stay lit very faintly! Damn!
Really liked this mod but I guess it's history.
I replaced the footwells, maplights, license plate, glove box, and all four marker lights, but not the rear hatch area, and mine work perfectly....wtf?...is there a pattern here? I'm VERY happy with mine...wish I could help, maybe it's the luck of the draw? You'd think the cars would all react the same...
Do you understand how to tell you have this issue? Exit your car in the garage and turn off all the garage lights, are the map lamps glowing (garage needs to be 100% dark)?
Well blow my dress up!!!!! I'll be a monkey's uncle..I just went out to the garage, opened my car, closed it, locked it, and the lights went off as they should. However upon CLOSE inspection, sitting in the car, I COULD see a small dim glow in my map lights. Surely that's not enough to matter is it? Of course I drive/start mine every day. Maybe a problem for storing extensive periods? HellifIknow..but I like my lights....
