I had a squeek in the interior of my 05 coupe pop up in the last few days. To say it is ruining the quality of the drive would be an understatement. Since I am damn near deaf I have had women and small children wedged in under the dash on the passenger side of the car helping me try to find it. The consensus is that it is coming from somewhere behind the dash pad. I have driven the car without the top, rear hatch and both doors open, and the hood popped to see if it was the common stuff. NG. Lubed all the weather seal. NG. I'm getting ready to start breaking down the dash to see what's going on in there and I don't dare let the dealer help me make it worse. Since some of you have already torn some of these cars apart already, is there anything behind the dash pad and radio console besides the harnesses and AC ducting that could be moving around? Could it be something underneath the car?
Today I pulled the console, radio and heater controls. I then took the rubber cover off the shifter to listen inside the torque tube area. The squeek is coming from inside there. You can see the shifter and torque tube moving around and the squeeking is in sync with the movement. It only does it at low speeds and when you are off the gas on the highway. Anybody know what may be moving around in there or rubbing? Next steps are to remove the exhaust and pull the access plates.
