I looked through all the install documentation and pics and it doesn't look very difficult if you are semi-mechanically inclined and have a decent set of tools.

I must be crazy but I plan out all my potential mods and give lots of though to every possibility even before I have purchased my Vette.

The one thing I didn't notice or missed was how programming is taken care of. I couldn't tell if you need to send them the computer or if you get a hand held unit with the AA kit.

Good luck and take some pics for us if you do end up doig the install yourself.

Pulling the rack/pinning the crank pulley will be the only difficult part. I know you were considering installing an underdrive pulley, so if you were comfortable with that, the rest looks pretty easy. I would think you would want to take it to Tom so you could get a good tune after the install.

If you enjoy the sense of accomplishment & enjoy tinkering & or are of a thrifty nature, doing it yourself is probably the way to go with your local guy as a backup if you run into trouble. Course if you want it likely done right the first time with no hassles, it might be best to take it to the guy who has spent a lot of time developing the install & especially the tuning part Imho. Good luck, a supercharger is a blast.

this is my $.02
I installed my own maggie on my 350z and 2 vortechs on friends Zs. My a&a kit sat in my garage for 3 months because I was too busy with my powdercoating. I had one shop install it, and another redo the install to get it right, and got a box of spares back that I have no idea where they came from or go. If I had to do it over again, I would make the time, install it myself and then get it tuned. Its the only way to know exactly what has been done.

I also recently had an aftermarket radiator/oil cooler installed, and I really am coming to the opinion that I don't like not knowing all the steps involved in mods. They did a great job, but I didn't do it, and that disturbs me.

HI:

It goes to say if you are not comfortable with doing it yourself then you will need to find a shop that will take the time to do it right. Does not matter if they have never done one before as long as they have high quality standards. It is not very hard but if you run into a problem then you have to have the skills needed to solve it.

You will also need to have it tuned correctly. This will take a tuner with a dyno and experience with forced induction tuning.

My suggestion is if you want a perfect job what is 600 miles of driving think of the fun you will have on the ride back.
