Does anyone know if there is a difference in the engine calibrations between the two model years for the LS3?
I have been reading that the 2009s are dynoing a bit better than the 2008s and I was wondering if there was a difference and if so will the dealer update the tune to keep it under warranty?

Thanks,

both rated 430 hp both the same! some 08's have dyno'd high as well.

Yeah, but is the tune any different? I think that was the question. Dyno numbers don't mean much due to all the variables. Hopefully someone will be able to compare the tunes and see if there have been any useful improvements regardless of what the max HP rating from Chevy is.

Dyno it hot and then cold, there is all of your differences between 08 and 09. These cars loose power terribly when hot. Timing is pulled after approx. 195 degrees.
time will tell if GM changed anything on us '08 owners.
I know they have been known to give slight bumps w/o changing the rating. When I bought my '00 Firehawk, the base 2000 Trans Am/Z28 was rated at 305hp. In 2001 they changed to a different cam and intake but left the rating at 305hp. The '01's and '02's were putting down around 10-15hp more, on average, than the previous year LS1's.

Thats why we pull the cars after the drivetrain has been hot, coolant is between 180-190 and oil temps are in the 160-180 range.
You are correct in stating that GM has quite a few countermeasures in the calibration that cause the "mood swings" of consistent performance. These are things when we tune we control.
Therofore are test method is consistent and that car made good power. The end results are not shocking either as we have had 08's leave and make numbers between 445-450.
