Default TPS sensor changed from 05 to 08??

I have and 05 with HRE wheels and gm tps sensors (purchased in 05) and want to move them to an 08 but don't know if GM has made any changes. Will the sensors and the 08 computor talk to each other?

I looked in your profile but can't see where you live - it's not listed below your avatar or in your profile. I'm gonna assume it's North America and that both cars were built to U.S. specs.

GM Part# 25758220 is the sensor used in ALL C6 Corvettes built for delivery in North America.

So.....you can swap your wheels to your new car and they will work.

However.....you're going to need to do a relearn procedure on the new car to register the sensors with the TPMS computer in the new car. The TPMS can only store 4 sensor ID#'s, so the sensors in your HRE's will need to be logged into the TPMS for them to be recognized by your car.

You may have a problem doing the relearn. The sensors in your HRE's are probably not mounted in the manner sensors are mounted in your OE wheels. In the OE wheels, the sensor valve stem sticks out of a hole in the rim so you can adjust tire pressure. In the HRE's (depending on model), the sensors may be mounted deep inside the wheel using bands or brackets and it can be hard for the tool to trigger the sensors when they are not mounted in the OE manner.

Good luck!

Bob, thanks for the information! I, agree it is more difficult on the HRE's, I have done the relearn before and it was a bit tedious but, I was able to get it done.

On a somewhat similar note... How long do these things last. As in internal battery life.

Thanks in advance to Q

The internal batteries in the sensors have a "design life" of 10 years.
