Have an 08 C-6,,just turned 1700 miles,,check oil level light came on and I'm down about a quart,,my question is this,,is this normal due to the car being new,,maybe the factory didn't fill it to the proper level ??,,,mosty city driving if that matters. Thanks.

If it was filled properly at BG, then you need to do some detective work to see where the oil's going. I would check the intake tract first, then sparkplugs, then exhaust. What are your oil temps? Over 275-300F?
No. Let your dealer know as soon as possible. I'd consider demanding another car. This car's engine has problems.

Bzzzt.....Sorry Tom.....Wrong answer.
GM's guidline per a bulletin is 1 qt every 500 miles when driven aggressively. Aggressively being defined as having a manual trans and revving to over 3000 RPM's...

Using some oil in the first 1000 to 2000 miles would not be out of question. I'm guessing that you haven't changed the oil yet....Its time to change the oil and then keep an eye on it...You should be fine...
My 08 C6 does not use one drop of oil. It is the first car that I have ever had that uses almost no oil....and I have had a lot of cars. I check the oil on her probably once a week and there is never any change in oil level.....ever. Even at 477whp, she still doesn't use any oil.
I there no break-in in these cars anymore? I always thought the best plan was to run non-synthetic in it for the first 500 - 3000 miles to let the rings seat properly and then switch to synthetic.
Now, these cars come from the factory filled with Mobile 1....so I guess my question is are they broken in from the factory now, or are the tolerances just that much better from the initial build?

There is really no break in on the engine. The need to take it easy for the first 400-500 miles is for the rear diff to seat properly.

I see that it's a GM guideline BUT 1 quart EVERY 500 when driven over 3000 RPM's. You guys with sticks would BE OUT OF OIL in less than 3,000 miles.
Maybe that's why they recommend oil changes at 3,000 miles
My 2005 A4 along with my 2007 A6 haven't ran low on oil EVER!!!
Mine is always full at every fill-up. It's now got 7500 miles on the clock... One oil change so far. I think your consumption is above "normal" if was filled properly to begin with.
