I want to replace my 2005 steering wheel with a 2006-07 version, but having trouble removing it. I know there are four tiny holes and my question is on what to use to release it. Is it a torx, allen wrench or just pressure release? A chevy dealership mechanic told me it was a 25 torx but I can't get it to connect. Someone else told me that you just push in to release. Has anyone done this?
I swapped my 05 steering wheel last fall to an 06/07 model and I know what you mean... I used some allen wrenches but don't recall the size, sorry... (smaller than the holes in the rear they fit thru of course) -
It took me a few tries to get the release catches (wires) to release - that was the first step and one that took me awhile... (even though I had read threads here on the procedure it still was frustrating for me to finally get them to release...)
2005 GM/helm manual (bought in 2007, printed manuals never updated/corrected it seems) was almost useless...

Thanks for the input. I've tried allen wrenches but it didn't seem to fit right. Maybe I didn't try enough sizes. Thanks again for the response.

Its just a pressure release, typical dealership tech without a clue.
i just used an allen wrench small enough to fit in the hole but stout enough to catch the wire release.
