Default Need Help: Switched 12v power source

Ok guys, I have search endlessly on this topic. I need to find a switched 12v power source. I will be using this power my NGK AFX wideband. The cigarette lighter is not an option as in the NGK manual, they say they do not reccommend it. I have the center consol out of the car and the lower part of the drivers side dash off. There is an unused plug beneath the center consol that may be for heated seats??(I have a 2LT). Can anyone confirm this as I do not know where GM locates the heated seat button.

Also, I during my search I heard of some yellow wire underneath the steering colomn. As mentioned earlier, I have the lower part of the drivers side dash off and and there is no yellow wire that jumps out at me. Does anyone know of this and or have a picture? I have also read about some people powering off of the ignition switch. Can somone tell me if that is an appropriate source and which wire they used?

Last, but not least, where is everyone mounting their w/b readouts?? The AFX is a box readout, so you can't do an A-pillar or an a/c vent mount. I was thinking of mouting on top of my steering colomn with velcro tap, but it it blocks the DIC. Nothing major, but I do use the DIC everytime I drive to monitor oil temps on warm up and coolant temps once warm.

Thanks for any help.

There are 2 fuseboxes in the passenger footwell, a big one that is exposed and a smaller, vertical rectangular box with a cover on it just to the right. Pop that cover off and you should see fuses for wipers and heated seats. Both of those are switched 12V sources, I used the heated seat fuse to switch my amp until I installed an aftermarket head. If you want to do it nice & neat grab an add-a-circuit with the appropriate amperage for the device.

Can't help on the wide-band unit, sorry.

Ok, in the passenger footwell of the vette you have three wires with some black tape on them. A yellow, orange and black. The have a plug on one end and are located near the top left of the passenger footwell. Right where the hole is the panel locks into. You can tap these for ground, constant 12 V and switched 12 V.

As for where to put the box. I would mount it somewhere else and use the 5 V analog outputs to drive a gauge. I am looking to get an AFX unit to replace my Innovative that just died.

I made a cigarette lighter plug for my NGK AFX. I only use it when tuning, but it works fine. Dont know why they say not to use it.

I think this is only on the C-5, not C-6.

I ended up power the AFX directly from the battery. I mounted a switch on my dash next to my ignition to turn it on/off. This makes calibrating the sensor very easy and I don't have to turn the car on as I would have had I wired into a switched 12v source.

Thus far, I am very pleased with this w/b.

I currently have my V1 connected at the same spot on my '07 and so far, its hot all the time. I can't seem to find anything that is switched even though I know there should be lots of them.
