The dealer replaced the battery/alt/ecm. The car still pulls the code. The dealer checked the amps on the car and it is pulling almost 100amps at idle. The dealer said the most it should pull is 60 amps with the ac/radio/lights on.

There are a lot of aftermarket things in the car. I have a diff fuel system, boost controller, oil scavage pump etc.... The dealer disconnected some of those things and still showed a lot of amps being pulled.

The more amps required the less voltage you have. The dealer recomended a 160amp alternator. i guess vettes have 145s in them.

I am going to do some more testing, but I probably will go the HO alt route.

hope this helps.

I had a common problem, try grounding the engine to the frame with an additional grounding strap. I know it sounds crazy but that is what fixed mine. You can even try a cable with alligator clips on both sides to see if it responds.

Im almost sure the new Alt isnt going to solve the problem dont waste that money....Have them check the Ground! and the wireing on the starter! before you do that.....

If it is heat soak you might want to wrap your headers/turbos.

If it wants 100 amps at idle, something is seriously wrong. Tuning out codes or putting in a bigger alternator is like putting a bandaid on a broken leg...
There is some massive draw on the system that must be found.

Yes... it is a turbo car and the turbo is next to the starter, and that could be causing the issue.

I had jump started the car with a battery charger... that was was caused the issue.

My car also uses 100 amps a idle. Probably from all the stuff in the car.

Who measured the 100 amps pull and what did they use to determine that ? The only wire that is large enough to handle 100 amps is the ALT
& starter line. You may want to pull the fuses for a/c, lights, radio, defrost ou are referring to, reverse lockout. Then check to see what it pulls.
The 100 amps you see may be the gage your reading which means 100% alternator output .
