Have 08 coupe need info on how to remove driver's door panel. I don't want to break it so any help from the shop manual would be great. I have one nasty rattle in the door at least it appears to be coming from the door. Thanks for the help Rich can email at rgreisberg@optonline.net
Funny, I had a bad rattle in my 08 as well. The good news is, I was able to fix it. Now, when closing the door, it sounds 100x more solid. There are no more rattles, even with the stereo turned up loud.
Removing the panel is pretty easy, but it will sound like you're destroying it. It's the plastic pins coming out, they have barbs on them. My lesson learned was to pull the panel off more slowly and do one pin at a time. I pulled two of the plastic sockets (mates for the pins) out of the door. Although, they went back in ok.
I used Velcro tape (using the soft loop side) and felt pads with stickem on the back in various places that looked to be making contact with the door. Here is a summary of what was done.
- Felt pads under all the mounting pins on the panel. They were very loose and making plastic on plastic contact.
- Thin strips (3/6") of Velcro tape along the back and some of the bottom edge of the panel (opposite of the hinge side).
- Felt pads in the sockets where the large cross shaped alignment pins go. There are two, one large and one small.
- Velcro on top of a small round pin near the bottom of the panel.
I bought a (new at the time) 1984 Dodge 350 stakebed truck that had a rattle in the door. Turned out to be a screwdiver! Had that truck for 15 years and it served well.
Further update. Hopefully I will have the new door pulls by the end of the month of September. VE didn't have any cores so they had to order new pulls to be wrapped.
