Bummer, after a fun labor day Sunday drive, really enjoying the Vette, at 258 miles my new 08 yellow cpe 3lt,nav,pp,qx3,f55,yellowebony, would not go into reverse or park. The shift button does not seem to link with anything. I discovered this as I was trying to turn around in a parking lot and discovered I could not engage reverse only neutral and drive or s. My passenger was kind enough, while we were in N, like Fred Flintstone, open the door and push the vette backwards with his foot, then I was able to put it in drive and yaba daba doo off we go home, a bit jaded. Service, I understand will be taking Labor Day off, but sales is open, so I will drive to the dealership today to safely keep until tomorrow. The fact that I was able to get a cpe with this equipment and color in August at 0 percent gmac financing at supplier tempers the fact that this is the first of 21 cars I have owned that has a stuck shift lever. I will keep you posted after repair.

No biggie, take it to the dealer, quick fix. The may have to order the piece that broke in the shifter. I think it is the reverse lockout pin. Be sure to check the shifter **** for looseness after the fix.
Yes as others have stated it's a relatively simple fix, might take a day or two to get the parts in but they'll take care of you.
This has happened to some A6s before but it certainly is not common...my 2006 A6's shifter has been flawlessly reliable.
Had that happen to my 07 three days after I got it. Took it to the dealer fixed in a couple of days. It happened again about a month later and then again about a year later, LEMON. GM took care of me and put me in a 08 Z51 at a wonderful price.
