A friend of mine has a new GT500. He showed me a service bulletin for replacing the clutch. Right on the service bulletin it states:
THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO VEHICLES WITH
PRIOR REPAIRS, AS WELL AS THOSE WITH
MINOR MODIFICATIONS,
It is refreshing to see car companies that embrace minor mods to their cars. Heck, GM even lists in the owners manual what to do if you track your car (add 1 qt of oil), but I've also heard of dealers refusing warranty on rearends because they found out the car was drag raced.
It says what to do if tracked, but never says it will remain under warranty! Hell, at the end of my manual, it mentions something about not racing or your warranty is screwed. Screwed up, huh?
automotive companies cannot void your entire warranty because you installed a modification.
However, if they can prove that the mod you installed directly led to the problem, they're not going to fix it, obviously.
So if you install a Vararam and your CD player breaks, they have to fix it. If you install a cam and your engine starts idling rough, you're out of luck. But if you expect differently, you've got problems, anyway.
