C6 newbie
I just bought a 05 with 5,000 miles on it.. I didn't know about the different trim levels etc.. but this car has drilled break rotors so I was told its probably a Z51 package.. I'm into drag racing, and had planned on going to a steeper gear, the class I want to run in is 11.5 index racing so the car HAS to run 11.5 in the summer at Englishtown..
If it has the Z51 does that mean it has the 3.15 performance rear or can it still be the 2.xx
I plan on 3200 Vigilante converter, cam, headers, and computer tuning, & hope to be close to running 11.5
Also if it is the Z51 can I fit 17" wheels on the back they are 17x11" from a 96 Grand Sport, as I run 17" drag radials on my C4 I think the new car has 19" wheels on the rear, and I need at least 18" so I can put on a drag radial...
Thanks for any help I can get...

And you can retain those gears (to keep costs down) and still run an 11.5 if you choose though with a cam it is often recommended to go to a steeper (3.42 or 3.73) gear.Just be sure to choose a cam that works well with less gear back there.
And yes those 17x11s with 315 drag radials will fit and work but I don't really believe that that tire is the best choice for that set up.
Many have had success with the 295-35-18 BFG DRs on 18x9.5 rims or even the 275-40-17s on 17x8.5s or 17x9.5s work well too.
Your combo of Vig converter, cam, headers, tuning and drag radials should be enough to yield you 11.5s even in the heat, if not then you might need to do the gears or maybe just get some skinnies and pull the passenger seat.
In cold weather you will need to slow it down a little.

Congrats again and good luck to you and Jeanne.

I also want Jeanne to get some seat time in it if she can get away one night that the track is open...
Also I want to pick your brain on getting it set up... I doubt I'll do much of anything this yr as all I want to do is make it CONSISTENT like my 96 was.. at least it will give her a shot at the championship... she has a 3 point lead over Ralph, & Bob Trishman with 3 races to go...

C6s are fast but can seem a bit complex at first to get down the track well.

It does have heads up display so it is at least a 1SA package (similar to the current 2LT package) and could even be a 1SB (aka: 3LT).
The Z51 package I'm almost 100% positive about, it has that one.
