Default Rattling caliper

About a month ago, I changed my front pads for AC Delco ceramics. However, I've just started noticing a rattle coming from my nearside front caliper when I've got the windows down and I'm driving over a rough surface. Thought the bolts holding the caliper to the bracket might've got loose, so jacked the car and checked them, but they were pretty tight. Rattle still persists. If I grip the body of the caliper, I can actually move it slightly from side to side. It's as if the piston is retracting too far back into the caliper, causing clearance between the inboard pad and the piston? Fluid level is just slightly below the max mark on the reservoir.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ian.

dont knpw what year but were there pad retaining clips you may have left off? Also if the pads are not level flat to the rotor (maybe a manufacture defect) that would cause it to be uneven and give you the symptoms as well. good luck, paul

Had this problem. not ceramics but other pads. You couldnt see the defect but it was there. I turned the pads back in got a different set and the problem went away. I had to jack my car about 7 times to trouble shoot this. You may just want to try it first.
