I completed a build in the Pensacola area with a respected shop in April. I asked the shop owner about the Textralias he'd installed in a few other high horse C6's. He'd mentioned that the last few he did seemed just fine until recently, when oddly about three of them all failed within about 6 weeks of each other. He'd been using them for awhile and never had trouble prior. A Spec 3 Plus was suggested, and thats what I run now. We both assumed that it simply could have been a bad batch coming form Textralia around that time. If so, I'd assume it wouldve been addressed by now.

My "2 cents".

I called Textrailia when I was deciding between the X grip and the Z grip. I was told that the X grip was for us older folks who never get over 2500 rpm in any gear and wanted a nice smooth clutch feel. I went with the Z Grip.

I have the X-Grip. The engagement zone is a little smaller than stock, but it's still not and on-off clutch. For hard launches at high revs, it's great. It grabs right away and engages with no lag. I'd say if your building an all out drag car get the Z-Grip. If you're driving on the street and want to maintain good drivability, get the X-Grip.

Subscribing to all the clutch threads I can find right now. Tex X and Z grips are on my list of possible clutches if I decide against a twin disk. X seems like it would be the best bet to maintain stock-like drivability but have the potential to slip if you took it to the track with some sticky tires (and ~600 RWHP ).

Maybe we can "hook up"(get it? Sorry, bad pun...) and you can take me for a ride, Ben. It's a funny thing, I have been talking to a lot of local guys who have swapped out their clutches, and I cannot seem to find any 2 that are happy with what they have. I really liked Spin's Z06 clutch/Fidanza flywheel combo, but I think the X Grip might be a better combo of clamping power/weight/driveability over the other aftermarkets. I drove C6Dvls around a parking lot, he has the Z grip. It was OK, but I couldn't tell if it was me not used to the loping of his cam, or the clutch action itself, but I couldnt creep it along easily like I can with with the Z06 or stocker. I'm at 465 RWHP through the 4.10s and will get the FAST LS3 when it comes out and we're done with power mods. It may see the track once or twice just for the experience, but it's a street machine and I want to be able to slip it when needed, I dont want to wrestle with it in traffic like some of buddies tell me they do with some aftermarkets.

Semi thread jack...anyone use one of the Tilton 5.5" disc setups on the street?

http://www.tiltonracing.com/content....st2&id=440&m=d

This is almost exactly what we use in the race car (the carbon version), and we will be putting one in our street Z06, behind our new motor, in the near future. looks like a great combination of grip and light weight.

X-Grip and Z-Grip have the same spring, so one is not less or more likely to slip than the other. The difference is in the engagement. Z-grip is intended for drag racing where you want to reduce the time spent slipping and get the power to the wheels.

We sure can! With 482 HP, I can slip the clutch in first, then second, then third. Part of that is my more moderate cam than DvlBoi's and part is the clutch.

Yea, I didn't mean that one has less clamping force, but that during hard shifts the X Grip will take a fraction longer to engage and that extra slip time creates heat which is bad but that slip also makes it more drivable, which is good.
