And on day 6 of ownership I installed a Hurst shifter. I know many people like the MGW but I am a Hurst person (read old) and went with the Hurst.
Install instructions were close to perfect including some drawings. Took about an hour to do and the only issue was the threaded hole to put the stock **** onto the Hurst shifter is too low and does not match up to the stock ****. I measured the depth into the **** and the hole is about 3/16" off. It's tight enough of a fit and keyed so I just whacked it on without the screw. The Hurst ball **** that I always have used in the past was left off in favor of the stock ****. I really like the stock ****, they did a great job in its design.
Though the tranny is still new the shifter made a million percent difference... Good mon...
I put the B&M in my 05' and wish I would have went with the Hurst. I put a Hurst in my 91' Vette and also in my 00' Firehawk and loved them in both. Why did I stray? Who knows.
As a nube may I ask what the difference is?
I would love it if my trans shifted into first when I'm sitting at a traffic light. Usually I have to play with it and the clutch to get it to engage. (I shift to neutral at traffic lights to save wear and tear on the clutch....something that was mandatory on my 71 MGB and it's throw out bearing.)

John
I had an MGW installed this past weekend along with a trans fluid changeover to Royal Purple.
No more having to double clutch it to get into first at a light...
The travel distance with the MGW feels like half of what is was with the stock shifter in both forward/back and side to side motion.
There is no shake, rattle and roll with the new shifter either.
I hope this not a hijack of sorts. I would like a shorter throw but I too like the stock ****. Therefore I've been waiting to do a change for a short throw with no RATTLE! Well, after installing my Z06 with M2W, I no longer have a rattle. ????? Now I wonder if I need to change shifter or **** BUT I still long for the shorter throw that you folks have. I hate to tear into the dash/console but guess I must for a short throw and easy shifts. Sounds like I just convinced myself.
To be honest I haven't put many miles on it today but I'll let you know how it does. It has no rattles and I didn't have to do any double shifting to first before and still don't. I did have to double shift to 6th or be very deliberate in my throw with the stock shifter and reverse was a pain. And of course the shift to 3rd was crap and the over all feel was sloppy with the stock shifter. All is better now.
Also to be honest on the outside the MGW and Hurst look fairly similar but I know that opens me up to everyone saying what the differences are. Bottom line is the shifting is shorter and very precise.
