After modifying my 07 C6 with headers, CATS, X-pipe and CAI I had it dyno tuned and the tuner made changes to the fan settings even though I did not replace the OEM thermostat. Before the dyno tune the fan would turn on at 230 and off at 220 and after the tune it now turns on at 216 and off at 212.
Can anyone tell me what the fan on/off parameters are?
Larry,
I think you answered your own question. You can set the parameters in your tune. So, your guy lowered the coming on temp which is pretty standard. What exactly is your question? Do you want to know what they come on stock? I think I've got mine set up to come on around 195.

I had a tune and have noticed the same thing, sitting at a stop light or when I am getting ready to shut the car off. I can hear the fan blasting away. my question, is this a problem? will it shorten the life span of the fan?
No it wont hurt the fan life.. I had my 96 Vette set to go on at 170 it was set that way back in 1997 and I just sold the car.. never had a cooling or fan prob..
On my C6 the fans are set to go on 192.. thats the lowest they can be set.. I have a 160 T Stat .. and my car runs about 175- 185 around town..
Stock fan program settings are to run at 15% @ 199* and in increments up to 90% at 225*. If you want your fan to turn off at cruise/freeway speeds then don't set your fan to come on any sooner than 199*.
For stock thermostat I would recommend 25% at 199*, 50% @ 203*, 75% @ 207* and 90% at 210*. You will rarely see above 203* and your engine will never get up to the 225* range with these settings.

20% @ 192*. You can go a little higher on % at 192* but the fan will run continuously around 30%+/-. Then 40-50% at 196*, 75% or 90% @ 199* and 90% @ 203*+. Cruising with that 160* it will run much cooler than 192. Ideally you would like the fan to come on sooner but the program won't allow.

no kidding, (stock fan speed setup) @ 60 mph, 62 degrees F, 174 to 180 engine temp. sitting and idling it will creep up to 198+ the second you start moving the temp drops like a rock. i'm not sure i like the big temp swing with a 160 t-stat. thoughts?
btw i haven't set the fan speeds yet so i will wait to see how that works first.

Yep, about 180* moving with the 160* tstat with not too high ambient. Unfortunately you will see that big swing with a 160* tstat unless you want to run the fan continuously.
Thanks everyone for the input. Yes, When do the fans come on for a stock 2007 C6?
Also, when your referring to 15% @ 199 are you saying the fan is running at 15% of its maximum RPM?
Yes, definitley interesting. I recently had my car tuned -- its' going back to the tuner due to a choppy idle and the fan running constantly. I don't know what % rpm the fan runs on the highyway, but around town it runs all the time. It turns on immediately after starting up and runs until I kill the motor. This seems excessive to me, so it's going back for an adjustment.
What's the logic behind setting the fans to run all the time, straight from start up?
For what it's worth, I have the 160 t-stat and my car runs around 178-182 on the highway (65 degrees out today).
