Default Louder exhaust

I currently have the 3" setup on my 2007 C6 from the headers back to Z06 Bullets. I thought they would be louder than my Z06 Borla Sports but they have huge mufflers and are not loud like I want. Just as loud as the Borla but a different tone. I like the loudness of my buddies 2.5" C6 Bullets.

My question is what mufflers can I put in place of what I have. I am looking for something that is 3" and can put in place of what I have. I don't need a whole system. Just looking for the muffs. Maybe race mufflers. Let me know if there is anything out there.

Thanks,
Andrew

Default Z06 mufflers and...

a controller. Open, with headers, as loud as they come, but...when you want them quiet hit the remote & you have stock like quiet. My car is cammed with the usual bolts on makin' 450rwhp w/ 3" all the way to '08 NPPs (2.5")& I know that's why it's louder than just stock 'cuz of the cam, but at WOT it's as loud a street car you'll find. Given you've got 3" set up Z06s will bolt on, & w/o controller they stay in the open position, but I can't stress enough to get a controller. In time they'll be hard to live w/. You can pick up a controller from Ed at Pipedreams or Ben at SunsetOrange, their simpleest systems are complete around $180 & I can personally get you set of Z06s for $450-500 plus shipping. They're around, on the forum, eBay, etc., but I think I can get you a set. If you have any questions send me a PM. This is one of the coolest mods I've done to my car & I've done a fair amount.

cool...i don't mind it being loud...i am putting 500 to the rear with H/C and bolt ons...i have tried cutouts and that is just way too loud and doesn't sound right...so i am looking for something louder than what i have now and not as crappy sounding as cutouts...all my friends say my car is loud as hell as is but i like louder...i want it louder at idle and at normal driving acceleration...seems to quite to me...right now my setup with WOT is crazy but i am looking for louder idle and normal acceleration through town like my buddies C6 Bullets...i have found some race mufflers online that i can have put in place of what i have now but i am not sure if anyone has heard how they sound...i have found bassani, dynomax, flowmaster, borla, and some other ones...so i am not sure

Default You'll love them!

Your car will be as loud as mine or louder (hard to imagine that's possible) then, w/ 500rwhp H/C pkg the Z06's & controller are absolutley the way to go. Trust me, it will satisy your desire for sound both in tone & in decibles.

if right now i am always in the open position and it is not loud enough for me, i don't see the need for the controller...feel me in if i am slow or missing something...

nice...so you run straight pipes to the rear of the car or dumped? you have heads/cam? i have manual cutous on the car and when i open them it sounds like crap but loud...how does the straight pipe sound since it would be traveling about another 3 or 4 feet past my cutouts?

do you have a sound clip by any chance? i have cutouts on my car which are installed right before by rear axle...i am hoping if i cut the bullet muffs off and do straight pipes like you it won't sound as bad as the cutouts since it has to travel a little farther to exit out of the tips...

or i was thinking about putting a 3" pipe in place of the bullet muffs and putting some race muffs wherever they will fit in the exhaust system since they are a little long

got ya...so you took the whole axle back off after the midpipe and had the exhaust shop replace it with just straight pipe back over the axle and out the back?

I have this same setup on my H/C car. By far the coolest mod that gets the most attention.

Default Huh...

Are you saying you have the new B & B mufflers designed w/ the vac. operated valve the same as Z06/NPPs? Bullets don't open & close, when you add NPPs/Z06 cans w/ the butterfly open it is a true straight pipe, but it sounds way better than a cut out & trust me it's plenty loud. A straight pipe just welded on will sound the same as cutouts, that is too say, not good, just behind the car instead of under. Sound certainly is one of those subjective things, but I don't think you can get better/louder sound than the Z06 or NPP. What's not subjective is the law & I assure cutouts won't fly when open, & straight pipes will never fly. I have been pulled several times w/ mine making an excuse the controller was malfunctioning, showed it to 'em & unplugged it to show what happens. Walked away w/ a "you need to get that fixed" warning. But to each his own I guess.
