Default I just upgraded........

Hi all, whether employee pricing is a hoax or not, I bit the big one and now own a brand new '08 Z06, I picked it up for what I thought was an excellent price, 11K under msrp. I moved from a '07 C6/A6/Z51. This car is amazing, the LS7 is a true beast. One thing I ask is that someone direct me as to which mufflers to go with and where in the Chicago area should I get the work done, the car is too quiet, I want it loud! Another thing, I keep hearing about exhaust by pass built in to the exhaust system, please explain. Thanks.

Walk to the back of your car and look at the two inside pipes. You will see, what looks like a throttle blade. These open up around 3500 rpm. These two pipes are "less muffled", therefore are louder, and offer a performance gain. This option is good for 6 horsepower on the LS3 cars.

Several vendors sell a switch or even a remote control, so that you can open and close them whenever you want. It's the best of both worlds.

Pull the fuse under the passenger footwell first to see if you like the louder sound. Then you can by the Mild2Wild if you want the remote control feature.

Congrats on the new Z06, it is an outright beast.

Some people have pulled the fuse which controls the oppening of the exhaust valves. I don't know which fuse it is off the top of my head, but the box is under the passenger side floor panel.

Do a search to find which fuse it is and pull it.

You might try this before you proceed with buying a new exhaust system.

Good luck and again congrats on the new Z06.

Before you change anything, look into the Mild2Wild from pipedreams at nakidparts.com. This will solve your problem, best quality and best vendor.

Default Z06, any weaknesses

Hello friends, several years ago while at a dealership, the salesman said a person had returned a Z06 because they thought it was too much car. Now that I've had my Z06 for less than a week, this beast is pure overkill! but I love it. The question I have, is there a weakness/es with the car?

Thanks,

ROUSHMAN

Ummmmmm..............................no.

Oh wait, there is one. If you decide to do some type of forced induction, because of the compression and thinner cylinder wall, you can only run about 5 lbs of boost, limiting yourself to around 700 rwhp horsepower or about 815 crank horsepower.

Default Cotrollers...

I have a SunsetOrange contoller which is exactly what you want so you may control the pipes at your fingertips depending on your mood.
I have one on my car & it's one of the coolest things I've done. Ben, the owner is a class act & tops in customer service! He has a post in the parts section, the install on a Z06 is "so easy a caveman can do it" simple & will take 5 min. from opening the box to driving away with an installed unit. The pipes open will surely meet your desire for sound.
