Default Cage for track

I have looked up and read the NHRA safety guidelines and rules book. I need some clarification.

It says a cage is needed after 11.49. My buddy says that the C6 and Ford GT are an exception to this and don't need a cage until 10.99.

Can someone help me out with some clarification. I have a feeling my car will dip into the very low 11's my next time out.

Thanks,
Andrew

At 11.49 you must have a 5 point or 6 point roll bar. Under 9.99 you must have a NHRA approved 10 point roll cage. At this time there is no exceptions for Vetts or the GT's. I wish they would make an exception for the C6 coupe.

I already told you andrew... that there were no exceptions. Way to believe Clay and not me...

Ennis is a strict track. Your not going to get around not having a roll bar.

Andrew,
If you do need help on this one, Taylor at D.P. is building DFGDTT's multi point right now for the same reason, and mine will be done next, so you can take a look at the work, or just check out the options on his site. www.dallasperformance.com Good Luck at the track!!!

it all depends on who is working that day/night... I've seen them be cool until 10.50 or lower many times... but I've also seen them be VERY strict... but more times than not 10.50 was the cutoff... so you may be o.k.

i hope it is like that next time i go...cross my fingers...don't feel like spending tons of money on a roll bar...know of any roll bars that can removed after track use...i know roll cages are different

i found this link...it says roll bar but i am not sure they would consider it a roll bar...looks like a harness bar...

Rather sure that the 9.99 cert is a 10 point cage. Not an 8...
and you need a license for it.

I'm definately going to get in line for a Taylorized cage and some other goodies As soon as I get a new clutch(Twin Disc went to crap) and get my house back in order after IKE, she's going straight up to Dallas Performance

Default Horsepower Sales

My car ran low 11's at Moroso last year at a corvette challenge and Moroso asked me to have a rollcage installed if I was to continue to race there. That night wasn't a problem as I got knocked off in the second round and already had my 2 runs in. I spoke with Roger/Jeremy from Horsepower Sales who were there that night and they ordered a custom cage from Lingenfelter that week. It wasn't cheap but it was of high quality I tought. Here are some pictures from Moroso the following month.

I'm getting my cage installed this week and here are some progress pics.

I was originally going to go with the Lingenfelter kit but ended up finding a local shop to do the whole thing for under $1000. This was for a 5-point cage that included the swingout kit and they also managed to get the rear bars installed at enough of an angle so I can still remove my roof if I want to.

think that could pass as a roll bar since i will need a roll bar instead of a roll cage if the tech guy looks real quick at it?

If you look at the pics of my car being worked on, that currently shows what would be considered a 4 point cage. The fifth point involves the driver's side door bar which starts from my left shoulder and extends at a downward angle to the floor by my left foot.

Fortunately, the NHRA allows for a swing-out bar which means I don't have to climb over it every time I get in the car. The one that I'm having put in my car will be removeable so I'll probably only have it in there while I'm at the track.

This isn't my car, but this is what it'll look like when they're done:

A five point roll bar is the same as the six minus the passenger side bar. The drivers side could be fixed or removable.
