I have an 08 A6 and I was thinking about getting new mufflers welded onto a stock catback. But, I am very busy and recently moved to a new area, tallahassee, fl, and don't trust ANY mechanics to work on my car. First, my car has longtubes and my rear 02's are turned on. I'd like to remove my cat back and xpipe, install a set of dumpoffs a friend is letting my use, take it to the mechanic who will be welding my new mufflers, and then drive my car around for a day or two until he is finished. I'm very close to school and I am not far from work. Obviously the engine light will come on and the car will be abnoxiously loud; but other than that, what else can happen?
I realize this may sound stupid and unnecessary, so I'm not asking for advice on a more efficient way to do this. I'm only asking if this will screw up my car.
Thanks in advance!

w/ the exception of the possibility of a ticket, not to worry no points it's actually a noise violation by code. Hmmm... how do I know this? You will obviously get a CEL. Rehearse a good story..."it's my only car & after work I'm taking it to the shop..." & have a/the shop name. Finally, what are non-Z51 exhaust (from the other post)?
I know the answer, there isn't one, Z51s come w/ whatever you order or GM decides to put on. The options are stock, & aftermarket (thinking by Corsa) manufacturer option, & NPPs.
