Default Tuning Help / KR /Diablosport Predator

I have a 06 coupe with minor bolt ons and the Diablosport tune in it. Using the handheld with its limited capabilities vs HP tuner and the like I was able to dial in my LTFT to about 0 at cruise and WOT. My AFR is about 12.75 to 12.8 at WOT runs.

BUT I am having a problem with KR. I am seeing up to almost 7* during WOT runs mostly in the upper RPM range above 4200. I have tried retarding timing at WOT up to 4* and still seeing up to almost 4* of total KR. So I figured I could further retard timing to further reduce the KR but I am thinking that is a **** poor way to get rid the KR.

Oddly, I have put in a bottle of Lucas octane booster in the tank in the past and it has resolved the issue but I can not afford to put in a bottle every tank at about $10 a bottle and I am not sure how good that stuff is anyway using it all the time.

I have a Vararam with TB spacer and ported TB. I had this same issue however prior to the ported TB and the KR may have even been there from the factory, I don't know.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what values I could tweak to get rid of the KR other then retarding the timing back to the stone age? And before someone says get a real tune or buy a copy of HP tuner, that may be what I may have to do BUT I was looking for any suggestions that I could do now with my handheld.

There is alot of KR on the factory tunes, at least all the ones i have seen. I have HP Tuners so i dont know about the predator but i also had to back out the timing up to 8* is some spots. I remember 06MonteSS or something close to that is the man to talk to when dealing with the predator. I dont know if you can do it with the predator but alot of people adjust the Knock Sensors so they are not so sensitive. That helps if you can do it. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Ya, I have contacted MonteSS for help and he is looking into it for me. I did manage to get rid of almost all of the KR just now while doing some logging BUT I had to retard timing 6* from
2k on up in the RPM range at WOT.

Its just doesnt seem right to have to do that but maybe that is as close I can get with the Predator to remove the KR. I just feel like something is wrong to have to remove that much timing at WOT.

Hopefully he can get it figured out for ya. I totally agree with you that it feels like something is wrong when you have to pull that much timing out to get rid of the KR. It was the same with my car. But i have been told by alot of people that more timing isnt always best with the LS2. It seems my car likes 19* the best at WOT.

Did you try adding fuel?

Is 19* at WOT where your car pulled the best numbers on the dyno?

i havent dyno tuned it, this is just from doing logs on the street and using the Torque Histogram and SOTP. This was tuning for no KR i never really tried anything above 21-22at wot. I was thinking the stock tune has so much KR why couldnt you just lower the knock sensitivity and run some higher timing to see what it feels like, anyone have a answer for that?
I know the torque histogram isnt really accurate but if you get a baseline and then make changes you can tell if you went in the right direction if your torque goes up.
