Fortunately, it happened when I was working on my car in the garage. While I'm installing my '09 console and MGW shifter, the driver's window just randomly goes down a couple inches. When I try to raise the window, nothing happens. Then when I try to start the car, it says "no fobs detected." I have to let myself out using the emergency release. I attempt to reprogram the fobs, which doesn't work- at this point, nothing works and the car is spitting out all sorts of error messages: "service column lock," "check engine," "shock inoperative," etc. Being that my car is an '05 Z51 car, there are no shocks that would be inoperative?!? Even hooking up my battery tender did nothing- I went out and bought a group 75/25 Optima red top- fit perfectly and once connected, everything started working normally again. Now I have the Optima hooked up to the tender, so hopefully that will be the end of the DBS! Taka
Woah just got my motor put in and my car is doing the same thing. Well the window wont go up and the dic says service column lock. Did you figure it out?
that battery's going to be dead too! if you don't drive it, what did you need the shifter for? so you could tell your buddies about it while your having a beer looking at it in the garage?

You are correct, the best way to keep it charged is to drive it.

I was just illustrating that if you don't hook up the car to a battery tender, the battery runs down after a couple weeks.
The AC Delco battery that was in the car was original to the car- I replaced it because it was getting old and I know it has been run down a few times already, so I questioned the longevity of the battery anyway.
I chose the Optima because I've had good results with the Optima in previous cars and the combination of the extra reserve power of the Optima, it being a brand new battery and the battery tender should be enough insurance to prevent the car from going dead again.
I don't daily drive my car, that's why the battery went dead.
Thanks for the snide comments about the shifter, you're a class act, buddy.

I drive the car nearly every weekend- just didn't do so for two weeks and the battery went stone dead- I surmised that when I did the shifter install, I had to keep the door open and the shifter was not in neutral- that kept the car powered up and it drained the battery awfully fast.
