Default Help Drivetrain questions?

Hello everybody
hope you are all well.
Im sorry if i dont mkae much sense but i dont have alot of knowledge on the new corvettes(82-09) my family have the older corvettes 67-69.
I hired the new corvette zhz from hertz and that was nice to drive so this is what made me ask some questions im curious about, if you could be so polite as to answer or help me.
Does the new corvette have a drive shaft at all ? as i know it uses the 6060 thermec 6 speed manual box that vipers and mustangs use i believe and i was just woundering does the new corvette have a drive shaft like an old corvette where it then connects to the rear axle and turns the rear wheels.

Any information would be appreciated.
thanks
Dave

Yup, only it's not visible. The driveshaft is located inside a tube that runs from the engine to the tranny. If you go on ebay and look at some pics of a C5 or C5 rolling chassis you can see what i'm talking about.

Hay all thanks for the pictures and information and did you say this is the set up(same design) used on the 2008 09 corvettes?
What im thinking of doing is and dont hate me for it im thinking of buying a ls7 with either a 6 speed manual or the automatic and installing it into a 67 mustang fastback(eleanor clone) and i am woundering if it will possible to use the ford 9inch rear end with the ls7engine and gearbox?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

you'll need a camaro/gto bell housing to put the trans right behind the motor. As you can see, on 05 to 09 vettes, the transmission is out back, directly connected to the rear, and the driveshaft goes between the engine and the trans (and not between the trans and the rear, like older muscle cars)
