I've got an 05 with 32k on the clock. I recently returned from a 2600 mile trip and the water pump failed only a mile from the dealer. That's the good news. I took it to the dealer and he replaced the water pump. The car is now running about 10 - 20 degrees hotter with the new pump. Also the fan runs at the highest speed soon after I start driving. Can anyone advise me as to why things have changed? Thanks.

Check the coolant level. It takes a bit of effort to bleed out the air after the coolant is replaced.
What is it with the lousy water pumps on these cars?
My 05/Z51 has 41K miles (out of warranty) and has just developed a leak out of the water pump.
Anyone have an expectation that GM might cover this item being only 5K over...and an item that a reasonable person might expect to last a bit longer than it has? Or, is this just one more reason why GM is going out of business.

It's certainly worth a try to see if they'll do a "goodwill" repair. Go quickly, however, other posts in General have suggested GM is encouraging dealers to cut back on goodwill repairs.

Good luck man. I was only 1k out of warranty last month when this problem hit. $700 later, they fixed it. Surprisingly, it was at the dealer and the part cost more than the labor. who knew
